Green-Eyed Fun

It's always important to have fun with your makeup, and I like to have a little fun with color every now and then. For a dinner out with the girls, I added a hint of green shadow for a little extra pop.

Notice the rest of the makeup is fairly tame so even a small amount of color can stand out. The green was only applied on the lower lash line and just above the eyeliner on the top.

If you want a look that's a little more bold like this green-eyed look, here's a tip. Dab your makeup brush in a bit of water before applying, so the shadow goes on a little smoother and lasts a lot longer.


Just remember, a little color goes a long way!

Becca {Bachelorette Party!}

Becca is not only one of my very favorite people, but has got to be the cutest little bride-to-be who ever said pink was her favorite color. The girl looks better in pink than anyone! June 6th is the big day (right around the corner!) and she invited me along to celebrate one of her last weekends as a single girl. We've known each other since the good ol' college days at FSU and Becca isn't usually one to pile on makeup -- she just doesn't need it!

For the bachelorette night out, she wanted to do more dramatic eyes so we went with a little highlighter, some black eyeliner, pumped up lashes and a touch of pink (of course!) .

The overall effect was soft and pretty, with pink-hotness that didn't look overdone. Doesn't Becca look gorgeous? I can't wait for the wedding!

Angie {Wedding}

I was so excited to do Angie's makeup for her wedding, because I knew she was going to have fun with it. When I asked her what her wedding look was and what she was thinking for makeup, she had the same answer for both- blue and coral. She wanted to do blue eyeshadow (not the 60s Mimi kind!) and a coral lip. She also didn't usually wear a lot of makeup.

We decided to go lighter on the face, using just powder, highlighter and blush - no foundation. I gave her a smoky blue eye and we finished with glossy coral lips. Just what she wanted! It was light and beachy, but still pretty and perfect for her theme.

Her sister Jodi and her daughters were the bridesmaids and they were all just beyond adorable. Steve (the groom) even gave each of the girls a bracelet during the ceremony. It was a little on the windy side, but her hair and makeup lasted!

Jodi's makeup was so fun to do because it was a little something new for both of us. She usually shies away from black eyeliner and opts for a more subtle eye palette with browns and taupes. For her sister's wedding, we went for a stronger eye with darker liner and eyeshadow more in the pink-plum family. Jodi really likes a strong lip, so we added a bit more color than I usually go for and made sure she had a nice beachy glow for the ceremony with a mineral powder and one of my favorites, Too Faced Pink Leopard Bronzer. The result was pretty in pink (and bronze)!

Melissa {Wedding}

Getting to do Melissa's makeup for her big day was such a blast! She is just gorgeous and so friendly -- about as far from Bridezilla as anyone can get. Look how perfect her teeth are! I guess it pays to be a dentist (and to marry one -- the wedding favors were toothbrushes!).

Melissa wanted to make sure she didn't feel like her face was caked with makeup, so we went light but used blush, highlighter and bronzer for the perfect wedding day glow. We also played up her eyes with strong brows, shimmery smoky eyes and lots of mascara.

Mary {Wedding} Mother-of-the-Bride

I had so much fun getting to know Melissa and her mom, Mary who had their makeup done for Melissa's wedding at Santa Rosa Beach Club this weekend. Mary was just hilarious and kept me laughing for the better part of the day telling stories about Melissa and catching up on the latest episodes of American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. Mary has the prettiest blue eyes!

When we did the makeup trial, we went a little darker around the eyes, but went just a little softer for the wedding day.

She was just so excited for Melissa and she looks like she's absolutely glowing! To top it off, her dress was a bright tropical print that was anything but boring. I loved it!

About Me

I love makeup! It's so fun and creative and PRETTY!
I think I was in 5th grade when I started playing around with makeup for the first time. At that time it was only light lip gloss, a little bit of powder and clear mascara. (I have to thank my mom for that one. I mean, how many 5th graders have you seen walking around with their own tube of clear mascara?) My makeup collection steadily grew over the years as I experimented with eye shadow colors galore, endless lip glosses, powders, bronzers, highlighters, eyeliners and mascaras. My goal was always to make my eyes seem bigger and my cheeks seem smaller. I was the girl who helped everyone do their makeup before football games or group dates in high school and before socials or nights on the town in college.
It's always been a bit of a creative outlet for me because the colors and possibilities are endless! Makeup is such a fun and easy way to change your look a little or a lot. I have my favorites, but I like to change a few things up every now and then. Keeping up with the latest trends and tricks is interesting and inspiring. (Celebrity style and gossip is one of my guilty pleasures!) Putting on makeup is always an adventure and the best part is you can easily remove it and start fresh. No committment required. Just a little time and a little creativity!
